Kieran Tierney limps off premateurely as Celtic win title

Kieran Tierney may have played his final match of the season after he limped off during Celtic’s win at Pittodrie.

The Hoops clinched the title with an emphatic 3-0 win against the Dons but there was one sour note. The full-back looked awkward for large spells of the match and was then taken off after 55 minutes. He took an age to get off the pitch as he was replaced by Jonny Hayes.

The Hoops star will undergo a double hernia operation in the summer but it was hoped that he would be fit enough to play the rest of the current season.

Tierney did look more happy in the post match celebrations and time will tell if he’s seen again before the end of the season.

No need to risk him

It seems rather pointless to continue to put Tierney through the ringer while he’s not 100%. The left-back has been heavily relied on in recent seasons and it’s no coincidence that fatigue has caught up with him.

We have just three matches to go this season, two of which are effectively meaningless. It would make sense to sit Tierney out for the rest of the campaign and make sure he gets a good summer under his belt. He can then come back fully fit and ready to make a good start to pre-season.

We have a capable deputy in Jonny Hayes so it would make sense to deploy him in the position for the remaining three matches, giving Tierney some well earned time on the sideline.
