Kieran Tierney has congratulated his “hero” Scott Brown in an Instagram post to make every Celtic fan smile.

The full-back spent five seasons alongside the Hoops skipper, before moving to Arsenal in the summer of 2019.

But he clearly hasn’t forgotten about Brown’s influence – as he took to Instagram following the major news of his departure from Celtic after 14 years.

Tierney posted a number of highly emotive images on the social networking site, alongside a carefully crafted message.

He wrote: “Congratulations on everything you achieved mate. Was an honour to play alongside you for so long. My hero. Captain, leader, legend.”

Brown and Tierney were adored at Celtic, but things move on

The post was liked thousands of times within minutes of going up – such is the love for two of the most popular Celtic stars in the 21st century.

Brown and Tierney always gave their all when playing for Celtic – and became heroes as a result.

They are both synonymous with some of the finest days our club has ever seen – from thrashing Rangers 5-0 to win the league, to winning treble after treble and competing in Europe.

It’s just a damn shame that we’ll have to continue with neither of them wearing our colours.

Who knows, maybe Brown will manage his former team-mate at some point in the future.

I’ll set my stopwatch for around 2030.

In other news, a great image of Moussa Dembele emerged on Friday
