Former Celtic pair Kieran Tierney and Emilio Izaguirre are clearly still keeping in contact – judging by a couple of heartwarming posts on Instagram today.

The two left-backs, who both departed Neil Lennon’s Treble Treble winners last summer, interacted on the social media platform on Sunday in scenes that are likely to make many Hoops fans smile.

Tierney still holds out a lot of respect for Izaguirre, who’s place in the team he took in 2015, as he sent a signed Arsenal shirt over to Honduras.

Izaguirre broadcasted the kind gesture by posting an image on his Instagram story and saying: “Thank you very much my brother. You are the best. God bless you.”

And the love in didn’t stop there as Tierney soon quoted the image and added his own appreciation saying: “My hero. Always will be. Thank you and god bless.”

Ah, isn’t that just lovely.

It’s no wonder Tierney and Izaguirre respect each other

Tierney will have watched Izaguirre bomb up the left wing for several years before his first-team breakthrough so it’s no surprise that he sees him as some sort of a hero.

It’s also refreshing to see that their is no bitterness from Izzy to a guy who effectively saw off his regular playing time at the club.

You wouldn’t expect there to be though. The Honduran is one of the nice guys in football, hence why he is still so loved around Celtic Park despite not being a great success in his final few years in Glasgow.

Hopefully we will see both up at our big ten-in-a-row party in a year or so. Keep an eye out for that one.
