Last season for Kieran Tierney won’t be one that the Celtic left-back looks back on with all that fondness. A series of injury issues limited his performances for the Hoops.

He ended up missing the Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts, and had a double hernia operation in the aftermath of the game.

So indifferent was Tierney’s season that he didn’t win the Scottish young player of the year award for the first time in four seasons.

Prove doubters wrong

However, the hernia operation should mean that Tierney will be fit going into next season. Then he can start to prove the doubters wrong.

Injuries have prevented Tierney from going to the next level as a player. On his day he can be as good as his fellow Scottish left-back Andy Robertson.

However, due to his fitness issues those days in the last year have been few and far between.

Can get back to his pre-injury best

There has to be a doubt that after so many injury issues, Tierney might not be the player he was a few seasons ago.

He has time on his side to prove the doubters wrong though. That would be a huge benefit to not only Tierney as a player, but to the club as well.
