Kieran Tierney’s form since injury return is a slight worry

Kieran Tierney’s form since his return from a long standing hip injury has been a slight cause for concern.

The left-back, who made his return against Motherwell last month, has looked rusty in his appearances since his injury.

Tierney hadn’t featured since December, and it may be best for all concerned if he takes another brief hiatus from first team duty.

There can be no denying that Tierney has the left-back spot at Celtic sewn up for as long as he wants it.

He is a terrific player on his day and without doubt one of the best young full backs in Europe.

However, it looks like he may have rushed back from his hip injury to help the side out.

It is not the best idea for Tierney to be away with the national squad. He should use the time to rest ahead of Celtic’s run in.

It’s not that Tierney is stinking the place out with his performances, he just doesn’t look right.

However, with a lack of quality at the position other than Tierney, it looks like his services will be needed.

Celtic did try and address this in the summer, but Emilio Izaguirre’s performances have been sub-par at best.

Tierney’s form since returning will be causing Celtic fans slight concern over his long term fitness.

Hip injuries are hard to shake off, and everyone will be praying Tierney is himself again in two weeks time.

An iconic figure

Tierney has the potential to go down as one of Celtic’s all time greats. He’s certainly in the discussion for Celtic’s greatest ever left back.

However, Tommy Gemmell and his pair of European Cup final goals may trump Tierney on this occasion.

His form since returning has not been to the standard fans have come to expect from him however.

If Tierney needs extra time to get over his injury, Celtic would be foolish to deny him, even if their need of a quality left-back is great.
