New Celtic signing Greg Taylor has been warned about the step up in mental pressure when playing for one of the big Glasgow teams by his former teammate Kirk Broadfoot, The Sunday Post report.

Broadfoot, who previously played at Rangers, has painted a picture of constant scrutiny when  and believes that’s as much of a barrier to Taylor’s progress at the club as anything.

The St Mirren is delighted to see his former Kilmarnock teammate make a big move though, revealing that the left-back was growing frustrated at Rugby Park prior to the deal going through.

As quoted by The Sunday Post, Broadfoot said: “Hopefully Greg won’t have to go through anything like that, and can go on to be a big success at Celtic.

“It’s a great move for the wee man, and it was only fair that Kilmarnock let him go.

“He had been getting a bit frustrated towards the end of the window.

“He’s worked hard and it’s a chance for him to move up a level. So the best of luck to him.”

What can we expect from Taylor?

Broadfoot is right in the sense that adjustment from Kilmarnock to Celtic could be a bit of a culture shock for the Scotland international.

However, Neil Lennon clearly feels the player is ready to make the step up and shine for the Hoops.

Patience will be required from supporters as he beds into the squad. We’ve seen already over the last few months that judging a new signing to harshly is often misguided.

Taylor is a committed and tenacious full-back and will offer the manager a different kind of option at left-back to the primarily attacking Boli Bolingoli.

A player much more in the mould of Kieran Tierney, although not at that level, the hope will be he can show significant progress while at Celtic Park.
