Celtic’s upcoming Champions League qualifier opponents KR Reykjavík suffered a blow ahead of the match against the Hoops on Tuesday.
They blew the chance to go to the top of the Úrvalsdeild after suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar on Friday night.
KR currently sit in second place in the league table, with 17 points after nine games. They have won five matches so far this season.
It is interesting to see that KR have played more games than the Hoops this season. So far, Celtic have only played two league games, with two being postponed. The most recent being the game against Aberdeen which was meant to take place on Saturday afternoon.
Neither side in best of form
So it seems that neither side goes into the game on the best of form. KR suffering the defeat which stopped them going top of the league. Whereas Celtic drew 1-1 with Kilmarnock before the enforced shutdown.

Neil Lennon will still be taking the match against KR extremely seriously even though the Hoops should be considered favourites for the game.
After all, Celtic’s Champions League future is on the line in what is a one-off game. His and Celtic’s approach to the game will presumably not change even though KR suffered what could be described as damage to morale ahead of the game.
Lack of playing time could be an issue
Perhaps the only issue that Celtic will have ahead of the game is the lack of game time. When the Hoops take to the pitch on Tuesday, it will be nine days since the team played against Kilmarnock.

KR will no doubt be looking to take advantage of what could be rustiness from the Hoops. It is up to Neil Lennon to make sure that doesn’t happen.
It promises to be an intriguing night at Celtic Park on Tuesday. The fact that KR haven’t started the season all that well can only be a bonus for the Hoops as they face a step in the unknown, a one-off European qualifier.
