Kris Boyd points out something ‘fantastic’ Greg Taylor did in Celtic’s win vs Aberdeen that’s ‘not easy’

Celtic’s win over Aberdeen now opens up some proper daylight at the top of the Scottish Premiership table this morning.

Celtic’s Pittodrie win means the Bhoys now have a commanding seven-point lead at the top of the league with a game in hand.

If Brendan Rodgers successfully negotiates that, then ten points will separate both teams at this early stage of the season.

Reo Hatate’s goal was enough to ensure Celtic left Pittodrie with all three points but it was what Greg Taylor did that left Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd blown away.

Boyd told Sky Sports, “When he was a youngster, he was a midfielder. He’s comfortable going in there, and it doesn’t look as if he’s flustered.

“I know that sometimes you can tell the players go in there, and it’s like, he plays with Celtic they’ve got loads of good overloads in there. But it’s not easy.

“It’s not easy just to go into those little areas and be in that amount of space. I mean he’s a left-back. He’s on the other side of the pitch.

“He’s picked up there, but then to go and pick out the pass as well. It’s fantastic from him.”

Neil Lennon says people ‘underestimate’ Greg Taylor’s part in Celtic’s goal vs Aberdeen

Neil Lennon also waxed lyrical about the player he signed for Celtic back in September 2019 and said people ‘underestimate’ the Hoops fullback.

Lennon said, “I think we underestimate the role that Greg played in it and I think he made a huge difference to Celtic build-up play in the second half.

“I thought Celtic dominated the game and got control of it for long periods, and I just felt that the goal was common when it did, it was a real piece of quality for both players.”

Taylor is out of contract at Celtic at the end of the season and will be free to talk to other clubs in January.

Brendan Rodgers has already made it clear that he hopes to extend Taylor’s stay at Celtic and based on what he did last night, that must surely become a priority for the Hoops boss.
