Kris Boyd’s astonishing weekend rant about Moi Elyounoussi has been left in tatters after Celtic win

Kris Boyd is talking nonsense about Celtic again.

What’s new?

Almost the entirety of his column in a weekend edition of The Scottish Sun has been devoted to the Scottish champions, aiming for club figures such as Dermot Desmond, Peter Lawwell and Shane Duffy.

He makes some decent points throughout, but a rant about attacking midfielder Mohamed Elyounoussi has backfired.

The former Rangers man has claimed that all the Norwegian will be remembered for at Celtic is the completely overblown phone incident from Thursday night’s match against Sparta Prague.

Boyd said, in the paper: “There have been fleeting glimpses of the Norwegian’s talent but regardless of what he goes on to achieve he will always be remembered more for Mobilephonegate. Look, I can understand him being unhappy at getting the hook on Thursday night. We have all been there.

“But to sit in the stand using his phone shows a complete lack of respect for his manager and his team-mates.

“It also dispelled the myth about every member of the Celtic squad being desperate to win 10-in-a-row and be a part of history.

“Yes, it means a lot to some but there are others who couldn’t care less — including Elyounoussi.”

Not only has manager Neil Lennon already stated this is a non-issue, Elyounoussi brilliantly shut up his doubters with a sensational performance against Motherwell.

He scored a hat-trick to take his goal tally for the season into double figures.

It’s absurd to suggest all he’ll be remembered for at Celtic is a mountain-out-of-a-molehill issue on the bench at Celtic Park, even before today’s match.

The attacker has already won two trophies in Scotland and is a big reason why the team is another national final.

Other pundits such as Chris Sutton and Paul Lambert have also been lining up to have a pop at the player in recent days.

In fairness to them, they’ll probably have enjoyed Elyounoussi’s impact today despite their comments.

It’s hard to imagine that Boyd will have. Brilliant.

In other news, Tranmere Rovers fans have been left impressed by out-on-loan Celtic youngster Lee O’Connor.
