Former Celtic favourite Kris Commons reckons that Odsonne Edouard could become the club’s biggest ever transfer when he eventually moves on.
The Hoops have broken the transfer record in each of the past two seasons with Moussa Dembele’s move to Lyon in 2018 dwarfed by Kieran Tierney’s departure to Arsenal this summer.
But Commons reckons that Edouard could go for more than both, despite admitting that Celtic should be in no rush to sell the prolific frontman.
“The club are in a very good financial position so there’s no reason to sell Odsonne at any point during the next year,” he told the Daily Star.

“But his reputation is growing, not just in Scotland but at international level and across the world.
“He’s creating a lot of noise and there will be clubs watching him on a regular basis.
“But when Celtic have spent £9m to get him from PSG, you’d be looking at double that to get him.

“Kieran Tierney went for £25m but paying that for Odsonne would be a snip for clubs.
“He ticks every single box and he’s only going to get better.”
Fans will hope that the club get a good fee in any Edouard transfer
Commons’ expectation will be shared by the majority of the Celtic support. They will realise that Edouard won’t be around for too much longer should his current form continue.

They understand that and will accept his departure so long as the club don’t sell him mid-season and they receive a good fee for him. With every high-profile sale the club make, they will be able to ask for more money for future departures. It’s all about creating a good reputation for the quality of your players. Recent sales of the likes of Dembele and Virgil Van Dijk will have helped that no end.
Hopefully the club will choose to value Edouard in the £30million bracket. He’s a forward who has all the attributes to go right to the top of the world game, so we’d be foolish not to ask for top dollar. If club’s think he’s that good then they should have no worries in paying that amount for his services.
