Kris Commons believes Daizen Maeda needs to play more on the left wing again to get the best from him.
Maeda asked to leave Celtic earlier this year and still had that intention in the summer, but Celtic blocked his route out of Glasgow.
Brendan Rodgers said Celtic were not in a position to sell Maeda, so the Japanese star will need to wait until January before his next opportunity to depart.
Maeda hasn’t been at his best so far this season and was hooked at half-time by Rodgers during the Red Star Belgrade clash on Wednesday night.
The forward started that game as the striker, but Commons thinks his best position is out on the left wing.

Commons wants Daizen Maeda to play left wing for Celtic
Commons knows a thing or two about playing for Celtic having scored 90 goals in 227 appearances for the club between 2011 and 2017.
He was speaking this week on the PLZ Football Podcast and believes Celtic will have more balance in the team with Maeda out on the left.
Commons said: “I think if we can get Daizen back on the left hand side, it gives a little bit more balance.
“You know, one of Celtic’s best performers last season and, you know, player of the year and everything, and all the accolades that he got.
“I think if we can get him into his natural position, then you’ll see the best of Daizen.”
Will Maeda start against Hibs?
Having been hooked off against Red Star, there is a shred of doubt over whether Maeda will start in the Scottish Premiership against Hibs today.
67 Hail Hail predicted the starting XI that Rodgers will pick and have Maeda starting on the left, just where Commons wants him to be.
That would allow Kelechi Iheanacho to be deployed as the central striker and Sebastian Tounekti can play on the right wing.
But Rodgers may leave Maeda on the bench, play Tounekti on the left, and have either James Forrest or Yang Hyun-jun start on the right.
