New Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi put in a superb shift for the Hoops in tonight’s 4-2 win in Jablonec.
The forward, who made his debut against Hearts on Saturday night, was given his first Celtic start in tonight’s Europa League third qualifying round first-leg.
And it would prove to be a dream evening for him in the Czech Republic. Furuhashi managed to bag his first goal for the club with a superb run, touch, and dink to put the Hoops into a commanding position in the tie.
But it wasn’t just his goal that impressed supporters. Furuhashi’s work rate and movement off the ball was just as impressive. On several occasions, particularly in the first half, he made clever runs that kept the Jablonec centre-backs occupied.
This often allowed Liel Abada in particular to weave inwards and make himself a goalscoring threat.
Kyogo Furuhashi makes brilliant Celtic impression against Jablonec
Celtic fans were also left impressed with Furuhashi’s body language throughout the night. It was no surprise he was involved in so much of the play given the energy he showed in the 65 minutes he was on the pitch.
Despite missing a clear cut chance early into the second half, Furuhashi’s determination to bounce back was clear to see. He was involved in everything promising about Celtic moving forward.
Given the criticism Odsonne Edouard has had in recent weeks, the body language from Furuhashi was night and day compared to his colleague.
Now, there’ll be a strong demand from the Celtic supporters to see the former Vissel Kobe man get more minutes. With Dundee coming up at Celtic Park on Sunday, we couldn’t have picked a better fixture to hopefully continue his form. Especially with 24.5k supporters in attendance [Scottish Sun].
And it’s clear the Celtic support were impressed with what their new forward showed tonight:
