Kyogo Furuhashi backed by Celtic support to do a Scott Sinclair vs Hearts
New signing Kyogo Furuhashi is already being backed by the Celtic support to pull off a Scott Sinclair against Hearts tomorrow night.
Manager Ange Postecoglou provided an update on the Japanese international this afternoon. He refused to rule him out of tomorrow night’s Premiership opener against the Jambos. However, he did confirm that his time in London would be over tonight [Celtic Youtube].
Furuhashi should be upto speed in terms of both his fitness and match sharpness. Celtic signed him whilst the J-League was still in mid-season. There’s no need for a full pre-season of work before he’s ready to feature.
The move has striking similarities to that of when Celtic bagged Sinclair in 2016. Brendan Rodgers secured the talented winger from Aston Villa only 24 hours before the Hoops played Hearts at Tynecastle in their season-opener.
Sinclair would then go on to bag the winner despite having not even trained with his teammates. He would go on to have a Player of the Year campaign en route to becoming an invincible treble winner.
Kyogo Furuhashi will be hoping to get the Celtic support off their seats
It also says a lot for Furuhashi’s personality that he’s chosen the number eight jersey. He knows all about the impact Scott Brown made in Glasgow. Yet he hasn’t been shaken by the fear of struggling to succeed him.

Instead, he’s clearly embracing the new responsibility he has at Celtic. Willing to put himself in the firing line and deal with pressure early on. It’s a massively promising sign for the Celtic support.
Whether he features tomorrow or not appears to be anyone’s guess. The safe bet would be to say no. Then again, even Postecoglou didn’t appear to be too definitive on what the situation would be.
And the doubt surrounding it all has the Celtic supporters excited. Many are anticipating a Scott Sinclair 2.0 tomorrow.
The supporters, unsurprisingly, have taken to Twitter to voice their hopes regarding what will happen in Edinburgh tomorrow night:
