Kyogo Furuhashi has admitted he’s been wowed by the Celtic supporters as he detailed some of his experiences with them so far.

Furuhashi has perhaps become one of the most adored signings in the club’s modern history. Fans have taken to him in an instant, with eight goals to his name in 11 matches making him easy to take to [Transfermarkt].

It’s the Japanese international’s first taste of football in Europe after plying his trade in his homeland throughout his career.

And it’s fair to say the world-famous Celtic support is leaving its mark on the summer signing.

As quoted by Japanese outlet Number Web, Kyogo said: “The Dundee United match was not full, but there were still a huge number of supporters and I got goosebumps. I received great support in Japan as well, but I felt that I could smile naturally as the stadium was full of support. I was watching the games from above because I was off the bench in the last few games, but I thought it was a great atmosphere again.

“Celtic Park is full with about 60,000 people. The moment you step on the pitch, the power is transmitted and it makes you think that you can do it yourself.

“There are Celtic supporters everywhere, so I’m happy to say that many people are saying ‘Take a picture!’, and ‘How are you doing?’ Not only the customers who come to shop, but also the security guards who work there ask for a photo. Even if they are driving a car, they honking their horns and calling their names.”

Kyogo Furuhashi in a full-on love affair with Celtic supporters

To be frank, the Celtic supporters simply can’t get enough of Kyogo and it’s no wonder either. There’s just something different about him, and we don’t say that just because he arrived from the talent-brimmed J-League.

He’s arrived at Celtic and announced himself as a totally different kind of striker. Furuhashi has brought a world-class level of movement to the Parkhead front-line. Movement not really seen since the days of Henrik Larsson.

He brings an intelligence to our play in the final third that’s led to a host of chances being created. Not just against Premiership opposition either. Even in the recent 4-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen, Celtic could easily have had three or four themselves through Kyogo alone.

There’s just something special about him that the Celtic supporters are enjoying. There’s a reason he has eight goals in 11 outings and it’s not simply because he’s a predator in the box. He’s creating these chances on his own through his movement in the final third.

And it’s great to see how much he’s been taken aback by the Celtic supporters also. A strong bond with the fanbase was always going to be key for him in settling in here.

It’s scary to think what Kyogo and Celtic could achieve together once everything else falls into place. But it’s safe to say it’s been a long time since we’ve been this excited about a new signing.
