Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi is enjoying some time in Japan after his nightmare move to Rennes.
Kyogo left Celtic in the January transfer window to seek a fresh start in France and to kickstart his international career at Rennes.
However, as the former Celtic striker quickly found out, the grass isn’t always greener and Kyogo has found himself on the Rennes bench more than on the French club’s pitch.
But now back in his homeland in Japan, Kyogo has visited his old club Vissel Kobe where he was warmly received by the Japanese fans.
And here, the Celtic icon made a vow for next season as Kyogo looks to put the nightmare start to his Rennes career behind him.

Kyogo spent three years at Vissel Kobe making 111 appearances, scoring 49 goals to win the Japanese Cup and the Japanese Supercup.
Clearly, Kyogo is looked upon as a hero by the Kobe supporters and when visiting his old club, he made a vow for next season as he took in the adulation of the home fans.
As reported by Hochi News, Kyogo said, “To all Kobe supporters, I’m really happy to be able to stand in front of you all again.
“Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I’ll work harder and harder so that I can give you good news.
“Please support me.”

Kyogo is an icon at Celtic. Arriving in Glasgow during a huge rebuild under Ange Postecoglou, the Japan striker made an immediate impact at Parkhead.

In addition to the domestic honours, Kyogo was also named Celtic’s Player of the Year, PFA Player of the Year, SPFL Top Goalscorer and made the SPFL Team of the Year on two occasions.
Kyogo was named in the Japan Pro-Footballers Association Best XI three years in a row in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
