The near 25,000 supporters in attendance at Celtic Park yesterday got a rare treat thanks to the performance of Kyogo Furuhashi and his teammates.

The Bhoys ran out 6-0 winners, with the Japanese talent getting in on the action with three goals of his own.

Our hat-trick hero has now responded to the incredible reception he got from Celtic fans yesterday. He’s told the official website the match will live with him forever.

Furuhashi said: “I had a really brilliant day and was a real joy to play my first match at Celtic Park in front of our fans. It was my first real experience of our great stadium and it will live with me forever.

“Football is about supporters and about us as players trying to make our fans happy. It is why we play the game and we all enjoyed doing that yesterday.

“I would like to thank the fans for supporting me and the rest of the boys so well. Even though the stadium was not quite full yet, there was a phenomenal atmosphere and we could tell that our fans were happy to be back supporting the club.

“I can see why people say it is one of the best stadiums in the world and one of the best atmospheres in football, and I can’t wait to feel it again when all our fans are back and the stadium is full.”

Kyogo set to experience even more Celtic supporters on Thursday

Although the upcoming fixture against Jablonec isn’t on the season ticket, a large crowd is expected for the Europa League encounter. There should be thousands more through the turnstiles than Sunday’s 25k crowd.

The job against the Czech side isn’t complete, so Kyogo and his teammates will be looking for the same energy from supporters.

However, as Ange Postecoglou has noted, that adulation is earned. Another high-tempo, swashbuckling performance is required to get Celtic Park roaring again.

It’s very early days for the Japanese, Postecoglou and this Celtic team. But Thursday could be another indication of a lengthy love affair.
