Kyogo Furuhashi has stated he will “never walk alone” after receiving incredible support from Celtic fans this weekend.
As reported by Sky Sports and other outlets, Kyogo was the target of racist abuse in a video being circulated on social media.
Rangers have confirmed in a statement today they’ve banned the supporters involved from attending future matches.
Celtic also condemned the behaviour in a statement last night, as we’ve already discussed.
Now Kyogo has hit back himself and let everyone know he won’t be intimidated by this disgraceful incident.
Kyogo has been a breath of fresh air in Scottish football since arriving from Japanese side Vissel Kobe.
Not only does he have a quality that enhances the standard of the league, but he plays with enthusiasm, happiness and charisma. He’s the kind of character we need on these shores.
The diversity he brings is not just welcome in football, but society as a whole. That’s why it was so brilliant to hear Ange Postecoglou make such a positive statement about immigration and how it can enrich a city earlier today.
Thankfully, it sounds like Kyogo is enjoying his time in Glasgow despite small-minded idiots disgracing themselves.
What a joy it’d be to see him put all this behind him and go from strength to strength now.
In other news, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou makes an outstanding public anti-racism statement.
