Kyogo’s Celtic and Rennes weekly wage compared as L’Equipe also reveal Jota salary

French publication L’Equipe have revealed the salaries Kyogo and Jota earned whilst with Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Celtic decided to sell striker Kyogo in the January transfer window to Rennes for £10m, with Chris Sutton still seething over the sale which he blames the Hoops board for.

Sadly, his time in France so far has been unsuccessful. Kyogo has only played 113 minutes of football for his new club since ending his three-and-a-half year spell with Celtic.

Rennes are mid-table in Ligue 1 and Kyogo has only started once since arriving in January – and more painfully, he is yet to score his debut goal.

Jorge Sampaoli was sacked by Rennes days following Kyogo’s signature with Habib Beye installed as the Argentinian’s replacement.

But Sampaoli revealed he did not lead the chase to seal Kyogo from Celtic, instead claiming it was the owner’s decision.

Kyogo’s wage at Rennes revealed by L’Equipe

Kyogo’s potential Celtic return is now being talked up in the Scottish media, amid L’Equipe releasing every Ligue 1 player’s annual salaries.

Of course, Kyogo is on the list and Celtic fans may be surprised to see that his current wage compared to his income at the Bhoys isn’t too different.

Kyogo’s Rennes wage broken down

It is said that Rennes’ average monthly salary is €150,000, so we can assume that Kyogo is certainly not one of the highest earners at the club.

Those who rake in the most are Seko Fofana and Brice Samba, who are paid around £86,599 per week before tax.

What did Kyogo earn at Celtic?

According to Salary Sport, Celtic’s total wage bill for 2025 stands at roughly £19.8m per year, which works out at just over £380k per week.

Kyogo was said to be Celtic’s third-highest earner before leaving for France, raking in £19,000 per week before tax.

Jota’s Rennes wage was higher than Kyogo’s

L’Equipe’s list even extends to players who have now left Ligue 1, with Celtic winger Jota now falling into that particular bracket.

Jota made a sensational £8m return to Celtic after horrendous spells at Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia and latterly with Rennes.

It has been revealed that Jota earned €180k per month at the Roazhon Park outfit, which is €30k more than what Kyogo takes at the moment.
