Kyogo's injury status ahead of Celtic restart
Kyogo Furuhashi hasn’t been training with Celtic this week and is a major doubt for the upcoming Scottish Premiership restart against Hibernian, The Scottish Sun has reported.
Kyogo suffered a reoccurrence of his hamstring issue against St Johnstone just prior to the winter break and may not be fit enough to face Hibs on Monday.
It’s said he also sat out a bounce game against St Mirren earlier this week.
Ange Postecoglou has welcomed back a number of top talents over the last couple of weeks. The squad was literally limping towards the break and needed refreshement.
With new signings such as Daizen Maeda available too, we might not miss Kyogo as much as we would have prior to January.
Still, it’ll be a concern for the Celtic manager this weekend given how crucial the Japanese forward has been to our season so far.
Maeda could well be the preferred option through the middle, but Giorgos Giakoumakis is also now in contention following his own return from injury.
With Jota only just returning to training that could ensure Maeda starts on the left with the Greek striker the recognised striker.
Vitally, for the first time in a while, Ange has multiple viable options despite big absences.
