Lanus have declared Alexandro Bernabei is ‘blessed by the 10’, wishing him luck on his adventure to Celtic this season in Scotland.
The Argentinian club published a photo of Bernabei with Argentina’s most famous number 10 – the late, great Diego Maradona – back when he was a coach at Gimnasia.
Including Celtic in the tweet, it was a classy touch from the club that has helped develop and nurture Bernabei into the player he is today.
Maradona famously once visited Celtic Park back when he was manager of the Argentina national team, interacting with Celtic ball boys who helped him find a missing piece of jewellery on the Paradise pitch.
Bernabei will have a much more involved experience at the famous stadium over the coming season as he looks to make the left-back spot his own in Ange Postecoglou’s team.
The 21-year-old arrives with excellent senior experience in his homeland and dreams of making a name for himself in Europe.
It all starts this season with Celtic entering the UEFA Champions League group stage and embarking on a defence of the Scottish Premiership title.
Bernabei looks to be an exciting and explosive full-back whose focus is on helping his own team attack the opposition rather than defend his own area.
Given Celtic enjoy the majority of possession in almost every game, he should be a significant weapon that helps us break down determined defences home and away.
67 Hail Hail will be getting the opportunity to speak to Bernabei later this afternoon in a Celtic media call, so we can’t wait to find out more about him.
He spoke well in his initial interview with Celtic TV and hopefully has plenty to say about his big move to Glasgow and the challenges ahead.
More on that this evening!
