Celtic will aim to go further clear at the top of Europa League Group E when they host Lazio later this month.
The Italian outfit, who currently sit in third place in the group, arrive in Glasgow on Thursday 24th October – just a few days after Celtic’s next competitive match against Ross County.

Simone Inzaghi’s side may be the section’s top seeds but their recent Europa League record while on their travels may give the Hoops, and their supporters, some much needed confidence.
Celtic can add their name to growing Lazio list
The Serie A side came through their group last season but they did lose two of their three away matches to Apollon Limassol and Frankfurt – shipping six goals and scoring just one.
They also lost their round of 32 clash comfortably to Sevilla, so if you factor in this season’s defeat to Cluj and a quarter-final humbling to Salzburg in 2018, you realise that they’ve lost five of their last six games on the road. In that time they’ve scored six goals and conceded 15. That should give Celtic some belief.

While a draw may be a pretty probable result from the Glasgow clash, history tells us that it’s unlikely. Lazio haven’t drawn any of their last 11 matches on the road in Europe although they did draw seven of eight prior to that.
Zulte Waregem, Steaua Bucharest, Cluj and the aforementioned Limassol can all say that they’ve beaten Lazio at home in the last three seasons. Surely that must give the Celtic players cause for optimism that they can be added to the growing list.
