Lazio sit in a lowly 15th position in Serie A this weekend after failing to beat AC Monza at home on Saturday
After a strong season as runners-up last season, it’s been a difficult first five games for the Italians this term.
Monza added to their woes on Saturday after a Roberto Gagliardini strike cancelled out Ciro Immobile’s 12th-minute penalty.
Maurzio Sarri’s side have only managed to collect four points from the 15 available and fans are unhappy, with the team booed at the full-time whistle.
After the match, the Lazio boss admitted that something is up with his team, stating [Scottish Sun]: “We were too passive and handed the game to our opponents, so we did deserve the jeers.
“Clearly, many things aren’t working well at the moment, but as we said before the match, it is difficult to think we can just emerge from this negative moment quickly. We ought to do more, but we’re struggling at the moment.
“We hoped the Atletico game would help us kickstart the season, but playing after the Champions League game is tough for everyone, especially for us because we are not used to it.”

It goes without saying that they’ll pose a stiff test against Celtic regardless of their league form. Their 1-1 result against Atletico Madrid on Champions League matchday one shows they can compete against elite teams.
However, it is heartening to know that the Italians are not flying and that Celtic can get at them if Brendan Rodgers’ team play to the best of their abilities. Under the lights at Celtic Park, hopefully the Scottish champions show no fear and have a go at the visitors.
Lazio play twice before facing Celtic in ten days’ time. There’s a match at home to Torino this Wednesday night before a trip to play an impressive AC Milan side next weekend. Sarri will be eager to hit a groove before arriving in Glasgow – the pressure will only grow otherwise.
