Leigh Griffiths has returned to Celtic training after a three-game absence.

The club posted pictures of today’s session at Lennoxtown, as the squad prepare to host St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

The striker can be seen in good spirits alongside a very cold looking Tom Rogic.

It’s a welcome boost for manager Neil Lennon as he considers his striking options for the fixture tomorrow.

With Odsonne Edouard back on scoring form against AC Milan, there’s a good argument for pairing the Frenchman up with an out-and-out striker partner rather than an attacking midfielder such as Ryan Christie or Mohamed Elyounousssi.

Albian Ajeti hasn’t been in fantastic form, so perhaps it’s Griffiths who can be turned to for the matchup against the Perth outfit.

He did knock one in against them at McDiarmid Park the last time the two sides met.

The Scotland man hasn’t made a match squad since the 2-2 draw against Hibernian, so the manager might be hesitant to through him into action, especially from the start.

Despite these fitness issues, Griffiths’ habit for goalscoring can’t be discounted. He’s already bailed us out a couple of times this season.

His energetic style and ability to find space in the box could be crucial as the Bhoys try to break down a committed and in-form St Johnstone team.

With everything on the line for the manager, a known quantity in Griffiths may be just the ticket to see him, and Celtic, through this test.
