Leigh Griffiths insists that he and his Celtic teammates will continue to do their talking on the pitch this coming season.
Neil Lennon’s men opened their Premiership defence with a 7-0 demolition of St. Johnstone on Saturday. They sit proudly at the table’s summit despite it only being the opening week of the season, and despite being talked down by some other quarters.

Last week, new Rangers man Sheyi Ojo labelled the Ibrox side as “the best team in the league”. But Griffiths, who notched the final goal in Saturday’s rout, says his side will always do their talking on the pitch.
He told the Daily Record: “We let other people talk and say what they have to say.
“As players, we do our job on that pitch and you look at the performance against St Johnstone.
“If people think we are weaker when we are winning 7-0, how much better can we get?

Griffiths only cares about Celtic
It’s difficult to know whether Griffiths was directly referencing Ojo in his comments. It doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that he keeps doing what he’s been doing for the last few weeks – scoring goals.
Odsonne Edouard did a great job leading the line for Celtic last season, almost single handedly. However, having just one fit forward isn’t good for anyone. The best sides all have competition in key areas of the pitch and Celtic can now enjoy that luxury of front.
We have two really good strikers who are capable of playing in any match – be it domestically or in Europe. Add Vakoun Issouf Bayo into the mix and we could have three goalscorers vying for one, or even two spots.

The majority of the summer chat has centered around which players were going to come in to the club. However, so far it’s been those returning from injury that have made the biggest impression.
Ryan Christie and Griffiths have been two of Neil Lennon’s most important players so far this season. Their return to form means there is less need for new signings.
