Celtic were due to take on St Johnstone today, in a Premiership clash at Celtic Park, but as we all know, there will be no football played for the foreseeable future.
The official Celtic Twitter account tried to make up for that by staging a virtual version of the game on Pro Evolution Soccer.
Since there's no actual #CELSTJ match today…
We're streaming a virtual game using @officialpes to find a winner 🎮
📲 We'll be tweeting the game like any regular matchday!

Just like a normal league game, the chances and goals scored by the Hoops were Tweeted about, and the game was ‘shown’ on Celtic TV.
Hoops triumphed in simulation
In the end, the simulation finished 4-0 to the Hoops, with two goals each for Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard.
On his Twitter account, Griffiths had a brilliant reaction to one of the ‘goals’ that he scored. “Right foot too!” he said, underneath footage of his opening ‘goal’ in the game.

It was a good gesture by Celtic’s Twitter account to simulate the game, but this could be the first of many game simulations that the Twitter account may have to do in the next number of weeks.
It seems that there won’t be any football played on British soil for a while yet. That is a real shame for the fans.
Still, at the moment it doesn’t seem safe to play football due to the global pandemic. Therefore, the authorities have made the right decision.
Perhaps a live Tweet of a memorable game is next
However, simulations of live games can only last so long. Perhaps next week the Twitter account can show some memorable games from Celtic’s past, and live Tweet them.
That could bring back some memories of some of the Hoops’ greatest triumphs, as we wait for news as to when the Bhoys can once more create football history.
