Leigh Griffiths insists he’s looking for more than just goals this pre-season. The Celtic forward marked his return after a lengthy absence with a goal during the Hoops’ 6-1 friendly victory over SC Pinkafeld on Wednesday.
Griffiths had missed each of the club’s previous 31 matches prior to the game. However, he didn’t look too out of place as he notched an equaliser just before half-time.

But the 28-year-old says it’s more than just goals he’s looking for ahead of the new season.
Griffiths told Celtic TV: “No, I don’t think it’s about scoring goals.
“I think it’s about getting back into good habits, making runs and playing well.
“If the goals come, the goals will come.”
Griffiths hasn’t lost his confidence
It’s easy to see where Griffiths is coming from. Most fans will have been pleased to see him back on the scoresheet so early, but let’s face it, we weren’t up against much of a side.
What’s more pleasing is the fact that the forward doesn’t appear to have lost any of the stuff that made him a top player. Griffiths’ movement was still top drawer and shown in his goal. His opportunism was still there as he tried numerous free-kicks and efforts from distance.

The Scottish international looks like he still has all of the confidence from before and that must be most pleasing for Hoops fans. He has a tough challenge ahead of him now to displace Odsonne Edouard but his return is sure to leave Neil Lennon licking his lips.
