Leigh Griffiths’ positive message for the Celtic support

Leigh Griffiths’ Instagram message will provide supporters with encouragement as he expressed his delight to be back on the pitch.

Griff had been out from December 2018 until the end of last season due to personal issues. In the meantime, only Odsonne Edouard was available to lead the line for the Hoops. With Vakoun Issouf Bayo sidelined, Celtic were in clear bother up top.

Thankfully, however, Griffiths has returned to the first-team squad this summer with a bang. He scored six goals in four pre-season matches, and has already made his first competitive appearance. Lennon subbed on Griff against Sarajevo at Celtic Park, in what was another positive for him after working his way back to near full fitness.

And, posting on his Instagram page this morning, the former Hibernian striker spoke about how pleased he was to be back out at Parkhead.

Leigh Griffiths’ Instagram message yet another positive sign

The plan from Neil Lennon will be to get Griffiths back up to speed and performing how he was before his setback. But if truth be told, he looks even hungrier than he did pre-December.

In all of his pre-season outings, the Scotland international hasn’t just been strutting around looking to keep himself moving. He’s been chasing down every ball and showing a real appetite for goals. That predatorial instinct Griffiths has appears to be back once again, and you can tell it in his energy and performance levels.

He’s been absolutely oozing positivity over the last month since he returned to pre-season. Everything he does on the pitch just screams out class. And Griff certainly doesn’t seem to have left anything behind as he gets back to full fitness.

The phrase “like a new player” is used too often in football. But for Griffiths it’s totally valid, as he truly is like a new signing considering we missed him for the entire second half of the season.

In time, he’s going to demand a place in this team. That’s unquestionable. He’s going to be one of the main players, and we’ll hopefully start to see that partnership with Edouard take off.

But for now, Griffiths continues to just take real pleasure in being back out and performing for us once again.
