If there is one Celtic player that will be hoping that interim manager Neil Lennon is appointed on a permanent basis, it’s Leigh Griffiths.
Griffiths hasn’t played for the Hoops since December due to personal problems, but he will be encouraged to return if Lennon is named manager.

It was Lennon who originally signed Griffiths for the Hoops back in 2014. The pair didn’t work together for long, as Lennon quit Celtic that summer.
But in that time, Griffiths managed to score seven goals for the Hoops in 14 games. A more than decent return.
Griffiths admires Lennon

But Griffiths has always admired the man who brought him to Celtic Park. Indeed, the Daily Record revealed that Griffiths put a photo on his Instagram account of the two celebrating a goal, shortly after Lennon was named interim boss.
Lennon will be eager to work with the players who were at the club during his first spell as manager. One of those is Griffiths, whose career seems to have been sidetracked by off the field issues.
Confident Griffiths can contribute

If Lennon is able to get Griffiths back onto the pitch, he will be confident that the striker can contribute to the team.
It remains to be seen if Griffiths makes a return to the first-team this season. But the return of Lennon means a clean slate for all at Celtic Park going forward. That includes Griffiths.
All at Celtic Park will be hoping he returns to doing what he does best – scoring goals – sooner rather than later. Lennon could be just the man to give him the encouragement he needs.
