Celtic received an injury boost with both Timo Werner and Yussuf Poulsen ruled out of tonight’s Europa League match.

Red Bull Leipzig flew to Glasgow without two of their star men, with talisman Emil Forsberg already ruled out previously.

Werner is struggling with a toe problem while Poulsen misses out due to a back complaint.

Although both players didn’t start in the first game between the sides, Leipzig are sure to feel their absence in Glasgow.

Werner has scored 47 goals for Leipzig in just over two seasons at the club. He has shot to fame since moving from Stuttgart in 2016.

He was Germany’s main focal point in attack during their disastrous World Cup defence in Russia.

Poulsen himself represented Denmark in Russia, scoring the winner against Peru in their opening group game.

Both will be a huge blow for Leipzig, who won’t fancy travelling to Glasgow without two key players.

Different ball game

Poulsen did feature in the previous game between both sides, coming on as a 91st minute substitute.

The game as a contest was long over by that point however.

Tonight is a different game entirely with the Celtic Park cauldron sure to be in full flow.

Celtic’s players will look to be inspired by the fans’ backing and they’ll be hoping the Leipzig players freeze under the pressure.

Leipzig’s preparation for tonight’s game has not been ideal.

Celtic need to take advantage of any breaks they get, whether they’re big or small.

Tonight represents a chance for Celtic to show Europe they are still a force at home.
