A recent admission by Celtic interim manager Neil Lennon will not please fans hoping for the exit of Lee Congerton.

Lennon has revealed that he, Congerton and Peter Lawwell are set to have a meeting soon. The agenda of the meeting – plans for next season.

“I am meeting with Peter on Wednesday and with Lee about recruitment going forward” he said, as reported by BT Sport.

“Business as usual”

The fact that head of recruitment Congerton is involved in the meeting seems to indicate that he will have a role at the club going forward.

That will disappoint fans who were hoping he would exit with previous boss Brendan Rodgers. Congerton’s time as head of recruitment has been hit or miss to say the least.

Successes and disappointments

The likes of Scott Bain and Oliver Burke can be considered success purchases. Whilst the likes of Charly Musonda and Jack Hendry have been disappointments.

Congerton was recently linked with a move away from the Scottish champions. Sky Sports reported that Anderlecht were interested in taking him to Belgium.

However, the fact that Congerton is involved in Celtic’s planning for next season indicates that he isn’t going anywhere.

Congerton might have worked with Rodgers in the past, but now it seems that he is going to be his own man. It remains to be seen if that will be a good thing for Celtic.
