Celtic boss Neil Lennon has indicated that the club will be able to sign more players this summer even if Kieran Tierney does not leave.
As yet we don’t yet know if Arsenal will make a third bid for the Hoops left-back. They have had two bids previously rejected.
With the English transfer deadline on Thursday, the Premier League club will need to move fast if they want to sign the player.
However, should Tierney stay at the club, Lennon has indicated that Celtic’s transfer plans won’t change.
“We have money to spend”
“We have money to spend if needed” Lennon said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
“If we keep Kieran then it’s brilliant because we’ll be keeping a top-quality player.”
On reflection, it would probably be best for Celtic if Tierney stayed, at least until January. He is too important to suddenly leave the club on the last day of the transfer window.
On the other hand, should the Hoops receive the £25 million they want for Tierney, some of that cash could bring in new signings.
Difficult to replace what player brings to team
However, Tierney has been so vital to the Hoops that it would be difficult to replace what he brings to the side.
The ongoing Tierney to Arsenal saga hasn’t really helped anyone this summer. It will be best for all concerned with the issue is dealt with, one way or another.
Thankfully in just over 24 hours we will get an indication on where Tierney’s future lies.
