Neil Lennon has outlined his ‘big priority’ for Celtic – but in the season that sees the Hoops going for nine in a row, is it one that supporters will agree with?
The Hoops boss has underlined his opinion that qualifying for the Champions League takes precedence for him at the moment. It will not be allowed to be put on the back burner for the quest for nine in a row.
Lennon did admit that for some fans league success will be number one on the agenda this season – but he isn’t one of those people.
“There is no question that there is pressure as the Champions League qualifiers come so early” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.
“Still the priority”

“Funny you should say that but there are other aspects to this season that will overshadow the Champions League in some fans’ eyes. For me it’s still the priority. A big priority.”
It is understandable that for some fans winning nine in a row is the be all and end all this season. It would take the Hoops one title away from the mythical 10 in a row.
Champions league windfall could help title bid

However, Lennon is correct to focus on European glory at first. Financially there is a world of difference between winning the league and making the group stages.
Should the Hoops make the group stages, they could then splash out on players who can clinch nine, then 10 in a row.
Therefore, you would imagine that the vast majority of fans will agree with the manager’s comments.
