Lennon ends Bolingoli episode once and for all; “maximum sanction” dished out by Celtic

Celtic boss Neil Lennon seemed to end the whole Boli Bolingoli episode on Friday.

The Belgian full-back caught the wrath of everyone at Parkhead when he went to Spain last month without telling anyone, and then failed to quarantine on his return.

Bolingoli’s rule breach saw us forced to miss two Premiership matches, and the club have been conducting an investigation ever since.

Lennon confirmed that disciplinary proceedings had finished during his pre-match press conference, as shown on the club’s official YouTube channel.

“He’s been heavily sanctioned by the club,” Lennon told press.

“The maximum sanction we could give him really.

“He’s not back in training yet and I think his representatives are looking at options for him elsewhere.”

The Celtic boss also said that no offers had been made for the 25-year-old yet.

Bolingoli will be leaving Celtic this summer

It seems very much like Bolingoli will be leaving the club this summer then.

That’s hardly a surprise given the nature of his offence, and the stinging statement that Celtic posted shortly afterwards.

But it does reinforce the need for us to bring in another left-back before the deadline on October 5th.

Earlier in his Friday presser, Lennon claimed that he would be “happy” with his squad if no other players were brought in.

But the need for another left-back is of paramount importance, if we’re to succeed this season.
