Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson has opened up on the tackle that saw him red carded at Hampden last month.
With the Dons trailing Celtic 2-0, the youngster flew in with an outrageous two-footed lunge on Tom Rogic. Referee Craig Thomson immediately sent Ferguson off, and Rogic rose to drill in a third shortly after.
Now, in an interview with Four Four Two, the son and nephew of two former Rangers players has explained his thinking prior to the incident.
Ferguson’s father is former Ger Derek Ferguson, while his uncle is Barry Ferguson, who had two lengthy spells at Ibrox.

“I made a mistake myself and hold my hands up to that,” he said.
“I had a little chat with the manager the week after the game. He knows that I knew I’d made a mistake
“The game was getting away from us and you know how it is out there, emotions run high. I was just a bit desperate for something to happen.
“I regret what happened and I felt for the players who were left out there because I let them down, I let the fans down and I let the staff down.”

Ferguson will have to learn
The youngster may not be looking forward to coming up against his semi-final conquerors this weekend either.
Celtic have been far from convincing as of late but with an eighth successive title in tangible reach, this weekend may be different.

Ferguson will have to control his temper this time around with Rogic again one of the men he will be tasked with stopping.
Now the Hoops know their Pittodrie opponents can be riled at the smallest thing. They may look to exploit that on Saturday.
