Lewis Morgan’s Celtic future uncertain until new boss arrives

It has to be said that it is not yet known what the future holds for Celtic loanee Lewis Morgan. The winger is currently on-loan at Sunderland.

He has been a regular for the Black Cats, making 17 appearances as he attempts to help them win promotion to the Championship.

Should he help Sunderland gain promotion, they could want him to return for another loan spell, perhaps for a full season this time.

However, that will depend on the next Celtic manager. It should be remembered that Neil Lennon, if he is to be the next boss, has not seen Morgan play in the Hoops as yet.

Morgan’s departure was rubber-stamped by former boss Brendan Rodgers, who signed the player for Celtic in the first place.

Morgan is going to return to the club when his loan spell ends at the end of the season. That much we know already.

Next step in career unknown

However, we don’t yet know what the next step in his career will be.

That will depend on the new manager. Lennon, or whoever the manager will be, will want to see the player in action before making any decision about his time at the club.

Therefore, he will be looking to impress the new boss in training and in pre-season friendlies.

It looks set to be a huge summer for Morgan, which could determine his future at Celtic.
