Things always seemed a little too good to be true for Liam Henderson in Italy.
The midfielder, who failed to make the grade at Celtic, ending up playing in Serie A had more of a Hollywood feel to it that real life.
But, sadly, it seems like the film has taken a nasty twist.

Henderson is said to be close to a move down a division from Verona to Empoli, according to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio.
The reliable Italian’s website (gianlucadimarzio.com) have the report that says Henderson is about to move again.
The report says that a loan has been agreed “after a day of negotiations” and Scotland youth international Henderson will now depart for the team currently 15th in the 20 team second division.

Henderson should find more game time at Empoli
The former Hoops fan, who left permanently in 2018, has played just 195 minutes of football in the league so far this season so he’s likely to see the opportunity to get some game time under his belt as one worth taking.
He still deserves credit for going out an trying his luck in a foreign country.
Not many Scottish footballers ever go and sample and new culture and Henderson is likely to have matured as a human as well as a footballer over the past two years.

Despite his recent failings, he could still hold his own in the Scottish Premiership. He always has that to fall back on if his time in Italy is cut short at the end of the season.
The wait for a Scottish player to boss it in Serie A goes on.
