Liam Scales has agreed a new Celtic contract until 2030.
The defender is closing in on 150 appearances for Celtic, establishing himself as an unlikely mainstay in the starting XI.
Signed from Shamrock Rovers in 2021, Scales spent a few years on the fringes of the team, before being reintegrated to the squad by Brendan Rodgers.
Clearly, his performances have continued to impress under Martin O’Neill, leading to his reward of a new long-term contract.

I feel like I’ve got the game experience now, I’ve played nearly 150 games for the club and I’ve played for Ireland.
“It’s all coming together nicely and I just want to continue on the right trajectory over these next few years.”
O’Neill, who has used Scales in almost every game since across his two interim spells during this campaign, also spoke of his delight at the news.
He said: “I’m delighted for him and delighted for the club because I think Liam’s been outstanding, and since I’ve been here, he’s been absolutely terrific.
“We are a better team when he’s in and he’s also got the ability to play left-back, and I think it’s good news for the club because he’s always there.
“I like him a lot and I think he’s been a major player for us this season.”
Scales has won six trophies during his time at Celtic, and has served as captain on multiple occasions.
He will be looking to add to his tally between now and the end of the season.
