What a season Liam Scales is having for Celtic!
Not even the player himself envisaged such a situation where he is now, not only one of Brendan Rodgers’ main centre-backs, but main players.
It started with the injuries at the start of the season and that performance during the 1-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox.
And slowly but surely, Liam Scales has grown into the role of becoming Celtic’s ‘man of the season’, according to Peter Grant.
Celtic secured a deserved 2-1 win over Rangers on Saturday in the Glasgow derby, with the opposition’s only goal coming via a set-piece situation.
But for large parts of that game, Liam Scales dominated an abject Rangers forward line, with Peter Grant adding that he has got ‘better and better’, as he told Go Radio.
The 25-year-old isn’t just reaping the rewards on the domestic stage, but getting recognition for the Republic of Ireland now as well.
Liam Scales – Celtic’s Player of the Season?
“I think he has probably been the man of the season so far with his performances,” said Grant. “I think he has got better and better. He is playing against top-quality players.
“And he has done himself well in Europe as well.”

Liam Scales showing the way at Celtic
The Republic of Ireland international is an example to many within Celtic right now that you can make such a surge during a short period of time.
From Mikey Johnston to even the new boys Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke. He is showing them how it should be done.
Especially someone like Johnston, who is now an experienced player, but it just doesn’t seem to be clicking.
