The title race is effectively over. After Celtic’s win against Rangers in the Glasgow Derby at the beginning of the month, it was a case of when and not if were crowned champions.

Celtic fans have spent much of this month trying to work out the earliest possible date we can win the title.

Assuming that both us and Rangers continue to win all our remaining games, the title can be officially wrapped at the end of game 35.

But if Liam Scales gets his wish this weekend, it could be sooner than that.

Scales is currently on loan at Aberdeen and says that his club are ‘confident’ of taking points from the Ibrox club this Saturday at Pittodrie.

The Celtic loanee said [The Celtic Way], “I think we can get a result this time. When we played them in the semi-final we were very close and at Pittodrie in the last league game, it was tight. We were 2-1 up with two minutes to go and lost.

“We have shown we can do well against them. They are obviously a top side and are clear in second.

“It is a big ask but the run we are on gives us confidence that we can get points off them.”

Scales has been in good form for Aberdeen this season and the Irishman has been key to dragging the club clear from the relegation zone and, astonishingly, into third place.

A win on Sunday for The Dons would not only help solidify their place as Scotland’s third-best team but it would also help bring forward our title party should we win our remaining games.

Celtic face Motherwell at home on Saturday buoyed by their performance against Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon.
