Celtic attacker James Forrest has been very impressed with team-mate Ryan Christie’s recovery from a serious facial injury.
Christie suffered ‘multiple fractures‘ of the face in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen in April. The injury caused Christie to miss the Scottish Cup Final.
However, the player has recovered from the injuries relatively quickly.
Returned to team in time for qualifiers
Indeed, he returned to the Hoops side in the 3-1 Champions League qualifier win over Sarajevo. Forrest was pleased to have such an important player back in the team.
“In training, it’s like he has never been away, and he took that into the Sarajevo game” Forrest said, as reported by the Evening Times.
“Going to be a big player”
“He was on great form and I think he’s going to be a big player for us again this season.”
Both Forrest and Christie were key men for the Hoops last season. Christie emerged to become an important part of the side under Brendan Rodgers.
Whilst Forrest was named as Scotland’s player of the year. It already looks like both players will be vital to Neil Lennon’s side in the weeks and months to come.
For Celtic to reach the group stages of the Champions League, they will need Forrest and Christie to be at their very best.
If both players are up to the task, it could be a successful qualifying campaign for the Hoops.
