The Celtic supporters have been reacting to the footage of Ismaila Soro and Odsonne Edouard having a joke over a key incident at full-time yesterday.
Celtic overcame Aberdeen 1-0 for the second time in 10 days thanks to Edouard’s early deflected goal. However, it should’ve been 2-0 late on. As the game reached the final few minutes, Edouard raced towards goal with Soro darting along to his left.
It looked easier for Eddy to play the Ivorian in. But instead, he tried to go it alone and saw his shot blocked by the Dons’ back-line. Soro looked furious at the time as he looked to be in a simple position for a tap-in. In the end, Aberdeen failed to punish the Hoops and the game was won fairly comfortably.
However, Soro approached Edouard at full-time and seemed to be having a pop. In typical Ismaila fashion, however, he was simply chuckling whilst doing so. There was clearly some semi-anger in Soro’s face. But it all seemed fairly spirited as the duo walked off with smiles on their faces.
It’s an incident that attracted real stick from Gordon Strachan. He was speaking on Celtic’ TV’s live Pass to Paradise coverage, and claimed that Soro should’ve been a lot angrier with his team-mate:
Celtic footage clearly didn’t impress Strachan
“You know talking about team spirit and being close together, I wouldn’t have been happy if I was a manager and had seen those two laughing [Soro and Edouard] at something like that. I would be saying to them I’ve made a 50-yard run, boost me in, we win 2-0 and then we celebrate. Then the guy who has made a mistake can take it. That’s more together than saying ‘oh here, that was unlucky, that was fine, big smiles’.
“No. A manager has resigned this week. How can you smile after that?”

Personally, I don’t think it deserves to be blown out of proportion. The win was secured and there will be more serious discussions to come over the next few days. John Kennedy, you would imagine, will be hammering the point home to Edouard more assertively about being a team-player.
Soro shouldn’t be pulled up for it. He let Edouard know his frustrations during the game. After it’s been won, you can see why they wouldn’t want to create negative headlines with some angry dialogue in front of the TV cameras.
The Celtic supporters appear to have mixed feelings about it if the below is anything to go by. Here’s a look at some of the responses to the full-time pictures:
Gordon Strachan spot about Soro laughing at Edouard not passing that ball late on,there would have been nothing funny if Aberdeen had equalised.Amateurish and it’s summed up Celtic all season.@CelticFC

Gordon Strachan is right.
The players shouldn't be laughing at the Edouard incident. Soro should be slapping him.— G (@GJS2010) February 27, 2021
To be fair, I agree with him about Soro & Édouard laughing at FT after another opportunity breaking down because of Édouard's repeated self indulgence.

Soro getting Edouard telt in the most adorable way, I would die for that man

Rewriting of history going on here, all because soro was smiling when he was having a go at eddy. Amazing

Found it weird Strachan questioning the mentality of Edouard for having a laugh at full time when Edouard literally won the game for us with his goal?

Strachan was correct in so much today. I couldn’t get my head around the smiles at the end between Soro & Eddy. The embodiment of a losing mentality.
