A representative of Livingston has hit out at the decision-makers for swapping their Scottish Cup fourth-round date with Rangers vs Celtic.

Livingston were due to take the trip north to Aberdeen on Sunday in what was originally supposed to be a 2pm kickoff. Celtic, meanwhile, were scheduled to go to Ibrox on Saturday evening for a 4pm start. However, the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh will now take place on Saturday – and that forced the SFA into a rethink.

Instead, Celtic will now travel to Govan on Sunday at 3pm. Livingston, meanwhile, have been pulled forward a day and will go up to Pittodrie on Saturday for a 5:30pm kickoff.

This has seemingly enraged Livingston, with their Business Development Manager Dave Black hitting out at the lack of communication with the clubs. Here’s a look at what he tweeted in reaction to the updated times:

Lack of communication not on; Livingston right to be disappointed with Rangers vs Celtic swap

Dave Black makes some great points here about how the switch in times will affect Livingston. Fans don’t see how much work actually goes into prepping for a game.

As the Livi man says, there are dietary and nutritional aspects, travel and accommodation plans, and training issues that all come under the microscope. It will be the same for Aberdeen too, who will be managed by new boss Stephen Glass.

The Daily Record reported on Monday that any updated times had to be run past the police first and foremost. They stated that Police Scotland would’ve looked dimly upon any late-night Saturday contest for Rangers vs Celtic. That’s despite the fact the previous derby went off without any major hitches.

That would’ve made sense if lockdown wasn’t in place and the game was taking place at 7:45pm. However, Aberdeen vs Livingston is only kicking off an hour and a half later than Rangers vs Celtic was scheduled to begin. Do fans really become moronic after 5pm or something?

It would’ve been ideal for all clubs if their games had stayed on the same day one way or another. This would’ve, at the very least, allowed clubs to prepare for the same date they had drawn up plans for.

You can understand the frustration from the Livingston man here. He won’t be the only one shaking his head with the updated times, you can bet on that.

In other news, the SPFL reportedly want fresh talks with the Scottish Government over a key issue.
