Livingston situation could be ideal opportunity for Celtic keeper Conor Hazard

Celtic, and boss Neil Lennon, should seize an opportunity at fellow Premiership side Livingston and offer Conor Hazard in a bid to help out their goalkeeping situation.

The West Lothian side announced the disappointing news, from their point of view, on Friday evening that keeper Matija Sarkic had been recalled by his parent side Aston Villa.

The English-born shot-stopper had enjoyed a fruitful time at the club after making his league debut in their shock 2-0 win over us back in October. His departure has left a void in Gary Holt’s squad with only Ross Stewart and veteran Gary Maley around. (Daily Record)

Holt is likely to want to add another keeper to his ranks. Celtic could really cash in and aid one of their own.

Hazard seems like a good loan fit for Livingston

Conor Hazard is just looking for a chance to show what he can do. He’s not going to get that at Celtic Park right now, given the quality we have in the position. In recent seasons he has spent time on loan at Falkirk, Partick Thistle and Dundee. All three have been in Scotland’s second-tier while he’s been part of their make-up. What he needs now is a shot at the top league.

We’ll never know if he’s going to be good enough if we don’t see him at a proper level. Livi are likely to be a little desperate and we could make a deal happen if we want to, helping our own youngster out and giving him a chance.

We’d also have the added positive of Hazard being ineligble to play against us. That would make our trip to Almondvale in February a little easier as the hosts would be playing with a new goalkeeper.

This is all very hypothetical of course. But there’s a real opportunity there for us and Hazard. We should make it happen this month.
