Brendan Rodgers did some good work in the transfer market this summer getting players in to strengthen the Celtic squad and getting those who won’t play a part this season a move out of the club.
Players like Sead Haksabanovic and Hyeongyu Oh were allowed to leave Celtic permanently whilst the likes of Marco Tilio and Gustaf Lagerbielke were given temporary loan moves.
Whilst those on loan will be hoping they can prove they are good enough to play first team football for Celtic, it does seem like Brendan Rodgers has made up his mind on their long-term futures.
But could the Celtic boss now sit up and take notice of one player he has allowed to leave the club temporarily as it seems now, that after being called up for his national side, Hyeokkyu Kwon is also leaving a lasting impression on Hibs boss, David Gray.
Hyeokkyu Kwon ‘getting better all the time’ at Hibs
Kwon made the switch to Hibs this summer in a bid to get regular football and his performances this season have earned him a call-up to the South Korea squad for the upcoming international break.
And Gray has been impressed with what he has seen so far from the on-loan Celtic midfielder.
Gray told Edinburgh Evening News, “I think it just shows the level in which the club operates and the size of the football club. I think we’ve seen that regularly, new players coming to join the club who maybe weren’t full internationals when they joined, this is a platform to be able to go and do that.
“If you’re performing well, especially on the big stage like it was at Ibrox at the weekend, it gives you the opportunity to then go and push on in your career. I think that’s for every player who aspires to play for their country.
“It’s obviously great for Kwon to come out and get first-team games. I think he’s done really well when he’s played. He knows he’s improving all the time.
“The way we train, he needs to get fitter and stronger, which is getting better all the time as well. I think he’s enjoying himself.
“I think you saw that on Sunday, I thought he played well. I’m sure there’s more to come, but it’s great for him to get that recognition and hopefully, he can push on.”
Hyeokkyu Kwon and his future at Celtic
Does Kwon have a long-term future at Celtic? At just 23, the South Korean is still at an age where he can improve.

However, with players like Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Paulo Bernardo all at the club, Kwon will find it difficult to break into the Celtic starting lineup.
You could even argue that Odin Thiago Holm is ahead of Kwon seeing as the Norwegian was kept at Celtic by Brendan Rodgers this summer so that makes his task of making it at Parkhead even tougher.
All Kwon can do is continue to do a job for Hibs and if he takes that form into his national side then who knows what the future holds for the South Korean.
