Read MoreLong-standing Howe association with Boruc has some Celtic fans dreaming
Fine, it’s unlikely, but there’s a world in which Eddie Howe brings Artur Boruc back to Celtic.
Yes, he’s 41. He’s probably well past his best. However, having made 129 appearances under Eddie Howe, some fans are dreaming of a Boruc return [Transfermarkt].
The Legia Warsaw man remains a popular figure with the Celtic support. Boruc famously caused Howe a headache in 2019, when he went to watch Legia play Rangers at Ibrox [BBC]. That was three years after the ex-Bournemouth boss heralding Boruc as one of the better stoppers in football [BBC]:
“When he’s on top form, I think you’d struggle to find a better goalkeeper.”
“You need one who is making saves and winning you points and I think Artur has done that in recent weeks.”
Times have changed, sure. But there are still plenty who’d be more confident with the Poland hero than our current goalkeeping roster. Scott Bain is the current number 1, with Vasilis Barkas and Conor Hazard further down the pecking order.
Whether or not he’d actually do a job as a player is somewhat of a mystery at this stage. Granted, he’s one of Legia’s most trusted players, having made 19 appearances so far this season [WhoScored?]. A coaching role might beckon for the eccentric Polish stopper, though, with perhaps a year or so as a back-up. Think Kolo Touré under Brendan Rodgers.
It’s possible. Unlikely, but possible.

Do you think he would keep Stevie Woods. I would love Howe to Bring Boruc back in some capacity.

Some were simply reminiscing about the former Celtic man:

This take is most likely the correct one, however:
Boruc loves Celtic but I don’t think he’d be willing to leave his hometown club of Legia Warsaw now after he just resigned with them. He’s considered a legend here too so he’ll probably end his career in Warsaw pic.twitter.com/kUDOxRS0E7
