Celtic goalkeeper Ross Doohan has been receiving plaudits from Tranmere Rovers fans after his man of the match display away to Carlisle United on Saturday.

Doohan made a number of key stops throughout the encounter, helping his side to a crucial clean sheet in a 1-0 victory.

One notable save came in the second half, with Doohan reacting quickly with his feet from close range after a devilish cross outfoxed his team’s defence.

After the match, Doohan was the consensus choice amongst supporters for their club’s official man of the match award, which was confirmed today.

The 23-year-old initially had to remain patient for opportunities after moving on loan from Celtic in the summer, finding himself on the bench for the first six games of the league season.

However, since last month he’s managed to keep four league clean sheets in a five-game unbeaten run for Micky Mellon’s outfit.

Mellon clearly rates the goalkeeper, having worked with him at Dundee United last season too.

Doohan has less than a year remaining on his Celtic contract but has made it clear as recently as last month that his long-term ambition is becoming the number one goalie at the Bhoys.

Celtic coaches Stevie Woods and Colin Meldrum are keeping a close eye on his progress in England as he looks to get more regular senior football and secure a new deal in Glasgow.

For now, Tranmere supporters are big admirers and have been taking to social media this weekend to share their thoughts on his latest display…
