On-loan Celtic defender Andrew Gutman has thanked FC Cincinnati fans for their support this year after the conclusion of the MLS regular season.

The Ohio club finished bottom of the Eastern Conference, missing out on the opportunity to progress into the post-season.

However, fans appear to view Gutman as one of the few positives of the 2020 campaign.

He signed for Celtic in January 2019 but has yet to play for the club because of work permit issues.

This year has been a productive one for him, making 22 appearances for Cincy.

Added to the eight he played last year and the 15 matches he featured in for Charlotte Independence, the 24-year-old has at least been playing regularly since signing for the Bhoys.

The fact he has impressed Cincinnati supporters is a great sign he can return to Celtic and at least make a push for a first-team spot if his work permit issues are resolved.

Last year he trained with the first-team for a month at Lennoxtown following the MLS season and Neil Lennon would probably like a chance to check out his progress after another year of senior football.

His contract at Celtic doesn’t expire until 2022 and FC Cincy have expressed interest in keeping him around.

These fans have taken to Twitter this week to share their thoughts on the player…
