Celtic attacker Luis Palma is a happy man at the moment and is increasingly becoming an integral part of Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven.
Doubts have been raised about the quality and depth within the Celtic first-team squad after a sluggish summer transfer window, but Palma is turning into a bit of a hit with the Bhoys support.
His contributions in Sunday’s 6-0 win over Aberdeen were particularly exciting. He created three assists and scored a quality penalty in the rout. The Honduran’s cross for Hyeongyu Oh to score was exquisite and drew comparisons to Celtic icon Lubo Moravcik in the aftermath.
Oh ensured that Palma took the spotlight during the goal celebration, in a classy gesture of team spirit and appreciation. The South Korean simulated polishing the winger’s right boot to highlight his glorious outside-of-the-boot pass.
Luis Palma shares Celtic delight on Instagram
After the match, Palma shared his joy about the day’s events with his 142,000 followers on Instagram, specifically thanking Oh for including him.
The 23-year-old said: “Great performance of the team today and very happy to help my teammates. 🍀💚🤍 See you after the international break👋🏻 Thanks @oh.hyeongyu 😄”
Matt O’Riley dubbed him “El Mejor” in the comments, meaning the best. Meanwhile Oh himself was one of the thousands reacting to the post with a “My man” response.
Palma now has five goals and five assists for Celtic from 12 appearances. Added to the two goals and two assists he contributed to Aris FC this season before his exit from Greece, it’s clear that the attacker is a player full of confidence and threat at the moment.
The Celtic star is now travelling across the world to join up with his national team this. Honduras have a massive two-legged CONCACAF Nations League quarter-final against Mexico over the next seven days and Palma is likely to be heavily involved.
It would be fantastic to see him bring his club form onto the global stage.
In other news, Kilmarnock’s latest announcement will definitely please Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.
