Luke McCowan’s cameo for Celtic vs Aberdeen has fans demanding one thing from Brendan Rodgers

Celtic’s draw with Aberdeen yesterday has probably frustrated the fans more considering the commanding position the team were in after just 45 minutes.

2-0 up and cruising, Celtic looked like they were going to kick on and win the game comfortably. But Jimmy Thelin’s half-time Aberdeen talk at Celtic Park gave the visitors a boost and Brendan Rodgers’ side didn’t have any answers for a ten-minute spell where The Dons got themselves back on level pegging.

However, it was Luke McCowan’s introduction in the 77th minute that had many Celtic fans convinced that Brendan Rodgers must do one thing with the new summer signing.

Celtic fans want Brendan Rodgers to give Luke McCowan more starts

McCowan got just 13 minutes from the bench but in that short time the former Dundee captain left Celtic fans convinced that Rodgers needs to seriously think about starting him in more games.

One Celtic fan posted, “Luke McCowan deserves a start, not fussed who drops out, but he looks right up for it every appearance.”

Another Celtic supporter said, “Luke McCowan HAS to start consistently at some point. The boy brings that intensity and positive play we simply are lacking.”

A lack of desire from McCowan’s Celtic teammates worried this fan, “Being up for it was missing today by some. Definitely should be starting.” and another Celtic fan said, “We keep saying it every game but is overlooked. Him playing will bring Calmac back onto form 100%.”

Luke McCowan has been a standout for Celtic

Despite his lack of starts, McCowan has been outshining the likes of Celtic hero, Reo Hatate when he does get his opportunity.

The 26-year-old midfielder was cool, calm and collected as he tried to take control of the Celtic midfield.

In the short time he was on the pitch, McCowan created one chance, won two duels, made one pass into Aberdeen’s final third and had three touches in their penalty box. [Fotmob]

McCowan has been a solid acquisition for Celtic after promising displays against Hearts, Falkirk and Ross County.

Will Rodgers look to start his £1m man against Atalanta on Wednesday? It’s unlikely but a start against Motherwell may not be too far off for the new summer signing.
