Celtic striker Maciej Zurawski was one of the stars of the mid 2000s Hoops side under Gordon Strachan which achieved success at both home and in Europe.

As a man who scored a number of goals for the Hoops, he is ideally placed to give his opinion on a fellow Polish striker that Celtic have been linked with.

That player is Jagiellonia Bialystok striker Patryk Klimala. The Scottish Sun recently reported that the man is a January target for the Hoops.

Now Zurawski has had his say on his compatriot. He is a fan of the player, and believes the striker can go on to achieve much at the Hoops.

However, he also thinks that the move could be a risk, as the player is still young at 21 and the Hoops will have to pay a £4 million release clause.

“Not the finished article yet”

“I have watched him a few times this season and I have been hugely impressed. He is not the finished article yet, but he is a massive talent” Zurawski said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

He then addressed the fee the Hoops will have to pay to sign the player.

“For me, £4 million is not a bad price. It is not an astronomical amount of money. It is a risk, but I think it is one worth taking.”

Time will tell if Hoops make move for player

As with all of Celtic’s transfer targets in the January window so far, we shall just have to wait and see if the Hoops decide to make a move for the player.

However, if the Hoops want to sign the player, and he is a propriety for Neil Lennon, then the club should meet the release clause that they need to pay.

As Zurawski says, the move may be a ‘risk’, but should Klimala’s goals help fire Celtic to nine in a row then it will have been a risk worth taking.
